According to its official website, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) was officially established as a multidisciplinary organization in 1952 when the use of ultrasound for medical diagnosis was in its infancy. Medical pioneers recognized the potential of this fast-growing imaging modality and agreed on the need to advance the art and science of ultrasound in medicine and research. AIUM is also best known for its prestigious publication “Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine.”
Also a pioneering company in its own right, Biocell Center carries a mission to study and promote amniotic fluid as a valuable source of stem cells, and to provide the service of preservation of amniotic fluid to the medical and patient communities worldwide.
From an emerging technology just a few years ago, amniotic fluid is becoming one of the most important sources of stem cells for regenerative research and applications. The stem cells contained in amniotic fluid are multifunctional and can grow into many different organs and tissues. Research shows that these stem cells could potentially be used to repair cartilage in the knee, heal wounds or even grow heart valves.
“Biocell Center has been studying cells from amniotic fluid for years and is the leading company in the world that is able to offer amniotic fluid preservation to women during their pregnancy,” says Dr. Kate Torchilin, CEO of Biocell Center.
No one can predict the discoveries yet to be achieved by leading regenerative medicine researchers; however, mothers who bank amniotic fluid will be prepared for future medical advancements.
